Getting the Flock out of here - trip 8 is rapidly approaching

I am waitlisted for business class 90,000 frequent flier miles. I hope it clears this week

This trip is a smidge early for the seasonal birds - as in pheasant partrige and peafowl. I lucked upon some royal palm and bourbon red turkeys that I will give a go. My Buff Orp problem will be solved. I have 2 doz Australorp eggs and White Rock eggs

My next trip will see goose and peafowl eggs in my hand carry with Bernie meeting me in Manila to ferry them the last 300 miles. I am determine to hatch them.

a couple of mystery pullet eggs



This was the original kitchen and bathroom in the egg house. We stripped babk the kitchen and will expand the floor to 10x10, then rebuild it to give Aljay a private room. New walls, window door and ceiling and some paint. After the piggery we will start on Bernies new house. It will have three one bed, one bath dorm rooms on the back for Aljay and seasonal workers




The only named bird - Scooby Too and his girls will need a coop soon - I am going to have to rotate breeding coops

it will crash just like the last 2 did there

some sort of a magnetic field screws everything up

Those lil' game hens are super for broodies......but we won't try to eat them anymore. They get to keep their heads here, and die of old age.....as long as they continue to do their broody jobs.

my silkie hens are good but i hope the games are even better

I have heard about the silkies, but am not ready to add any of them to my flock as of yet. How do they do against predators? I have too many neighborhood dogs, and some hawks and foxes. The games I have had have been through several dog attacks since getting them in 2012. Even though I only have one game left, it was not due to predators. Most of them turned on each other or lost their heads for psycho aggressiveness. And they are worthless in the stew pot. But for broody...I'll keep 'em. It the only broody genetics I have that is proven in my little flock of 14 birds so far.

I dont like the look of silkies in the philippines - they look miserable

In saying that I have a banty cochin sizzle roo - looks like he is trying to cool down.

I put 6 local girls in a coop to see how quick they will go broody - and to try and cross them with a RIR.

If they dont start laying or sitting in 2 weeks I will give then their freedom back as I need the room

See, that's funny, because my very first chickens were games......out of "sporting" stock. My dad knew a man that raised them and he took me there because I wanted some chickens. I was about 10 and he showed me a hen with about a dozen chicks. He explained to my dad that the hen had come home with the chicks and since he didn't know their parentage, he intended to "pinch their heads off" when he could round them up. He told me I could have all I could catch and he and Dad leaned back on the car hood and watched (and laughed.) I caught four, luckily a male and three females. They were very tame and would fly to my outstretched arm (or head, or shoulder) when I called them. The rooster never offered to fight me and one hen raised a clutch of eggs her first summer. They were wonderful! Granted, I handled them everyday until they were grown, but still, they were pure pets.

those types of birds, especially the roos are handled all day in the phils and are normally very friendly except for when they are not meant to be

Good plan Oz. I have 2 chicken tractors for broodies. And 2 possible new pullets who might go broody for me. OEGB/EE and a PR/EE.

My game roosters actually only got aggressive to each other, other roosters...or their reflections in the doors.

Except, for the one time the remaining game rooster killed my one of two barred rocks we had got.
