Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Awesome advice Rolito.

One other thing Oz, just check that Bernie does not have a temp. If he does he should be seen.
Apart from (rare but serious) septic arthritis there may be insect/tick-born diseases that present with joint swelling.

In deed it is.

I know all to well how debilitating a knee can be, All my knee probles stem from an injury when I was younger than Bernie.

Normally I would just bounce my differntial diagnosis off Mrs Oz but she was out of the picture.

Another day's rest and he will be good to go.

Woohoo!

That's great news.

HFR, you can let eggs go upto 24 days! They may just suprise you. I had eggs under a broody and she abandonned them on day 19. I stuck them under a heatlamp (it was all I had) and put moist towels over them and the next day I had two chicks. Sometimes they go shorter, sometimes longer, there's a lot of variables (although with your advanced setup, once you've got it tweaked, the variables should be neglible)

Fingers crossed for fluffy butts!

Oh no!! I'm glad to hear Bernie's knee is looking a bit better. I hope it's nothing and he bounces back quickly. With all those purebred eggs in the incubator, I'm sure it is an exciting time at Coco Beach.

Knee injuries are no fun. I'm a weird one when it comes to injuries. I tend to not have normal symptoms. I tore my ACL clear away from the bone and never had pain or swelling after the incident. I could still jog 5 minutes after it happened. Went almost a year thinking I simply hyper extended it… until it never tightened back up and I went to see a different doctor.

Get better soon, Bernie!!

No this is the first time I've used it.. It's a brinsea advance 20 ex. I turned up the humidity I will check them for chirps
I love my brinsea and I hope you will also. Did you calibrate the thermometer when you first turned it on? Mine was down about 1.5 degrees. If yours is a little low as well it could have slowed your hatch down. My last hatch with the brinsea the only ones that didn't hatch were the ones that I believe were in fertile. (all of my standard cochins!)

HFR - were they alive when you locked down?
If so I would hang on in there!!

yes I saw movement in them...so I will wait and see

I did calibrate but when I checked temp this morning it seemed cool, then I noticed the lid wasn't all the on tight, the little slots on the back were off just a bit and so I think that had something to do with it...I have fixed it and turned up the humidity and temp and we will see if they survive. If not well severe lesson learned.
