Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Suddenly I have chickens.

Its mind boggling.

So much effort for onsies and twosies but now those twosies are grown up and getting busy. I know for sure I wont ever be buying eggs again - and before too long, there will be no need for store bought chicken.

Heck. by the end of the year we will have veggies, eggs, chicken, goat and pig for my wife's whole family

for me add "beef-like" muscovys to the lineup

with 9 females i should have little need to buy beef next winter

they should be hatching up a storm for me with a little luck

well bed time for me kids

take care all

I have decided I am going to have to make 3 new grow out coops that will be very basic

The walls will be woven coconut fronds - like the wind breaks. No raised floors and no need for egg boxes. They will be good for 2 years tops but I cant see myself needing them longer.

Our 4 current pig pens can be used as coops as well once we get the piggery done

By then I should have 8 breeds well established and 5 coops of chicks and layers. Surely that will suffice.....
