Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I HAVE NEVER seen such clean pigs

They are clean!

You KNOW I now picture those pigs in a bubble bath, getting a good scrub.. right?
The pigs get feed three times a day. They get hosed down with each feed.

Overall though, given the opportunity, pigs are clean. They only poop over the drain in one corner of their pen

The first batch will be ready to breed in six weeks. I was going to introduce them to the boar earlier but I want them a little bigger so they will do better in the long run.

Yeah for australorps for Oz..... Back to lurking!
Thanks for sticking your head in. There is no top hen here to peck you, so feel free to come back.

Definitely Yay on the Australorps. It has been a long hard struggle just to get eggs. The last time I had a dozen, they were collected in 110 degree heat.

Ideally I would like seven hens and two roos for each breed. All too often I hava had less than hatch so its taken me another eight months to build up the breed. The 'lorps were a late starter but have caught up with one hatch.

The white rocks aslo did great and will be caught up.

I am hoping the swedish flower hens, silver pencilled rocks and salmon favs do as well with the current hatch courtesy of the uncle.

I am very excited about the mediteranean brreds in tha bator. White Faced Spanish, Empordanesa and Penedeseneca. Also Europeans - buff orps, Marans, Bresse, Mottled Houdans and Salmon Favs, The Asians are Cochin and Brahma and the merkan rocks, RIR, New Hampshires. Heck, we have a global hatch.
