There are probably hundreds of husbands all across the tornado belt trapped in their shelters with the wife sneaking more chickens into their coops right as you read this.

Tomtomdad, be afraid, be very afraid...There are probably hundreds of husbands all across the tornado belt trapped in their shelters with the wife sneaking more chickens into their coops right as you read this.
Luckily, you just got a tornado proof coop =)Sadly, it doesn't lock from the inside... for safety reasons. (And, if you will believe it, he's worse... he says we can easily fit two dozen chickens in our coop. I'm that one that says "Heck no")![]()
@Tomtommom By the way, what's the cost of one of those shelters? Wonder if seacontainers would work as a cheaper alternative...
You would of course need to bury the container, just like the shelter in the picture. They show some sort of doomsday prepper show from the States here, at least in that I've seen the people (who usually are preparing for a zombie apocalypse or something) use underground seacontainers as shelters.A tornado would pick a sea container up and carry it pretty far. The key to the shelters is to bury them and have a low profile. Then they have to be vented properly.
Some tornados are upwards to a mile wide and will Clear a path several miles long.

That's a cute shelter. Oz, you should look into these, you could make a underground incubation space with slightly more stable surrounding temperatures. Or a huge earth cellar to store eggs waiting to be incubated... Oh, the possibilitiesOh man, you guys officially brought me out of lurk-dom for this. I had a tornado come through my backyard and was researching economical DIY shelters and found this. Yes, that would be a school bus buried in the ground. I think it is hilarious. Now, where to find a school bus. BTW I never did find one I could afford, those things are EXPENSIVE!!!!
