I thought the same thing.

Its a cooler that looks like a tall tortilla warmer. It has wire wrapped in plastic around the exterior to prevent courier damage.

It would be a good way to ship eggs


They sent a fresh one. I definitely missed timing with one pig but could get a direct hit with the other three.

It would definitely be worth disassembling to see how its made.

Currently we water and 20 minutes later its gone completely.

When we have sandy soil around here & want to put top soil on top to grow tings

we 1st add a few inches of clay which prevents the water from draining straight down

then we top it off with our soil


this works well if you wish to plant a lawn on top of sandy soil

i would think it would also serve you well in your raised beds

ahh if I could find a good clay deposit....

I thought about filling the bottom with hard coconut shell hemispheres to "cup" the water. They would probably be still there in 3 years

my inlaws have all the clay you could ever want rite behind the house

bring your own boat to transport

Oz, I just read about raised wicking beds. I've used self watering pots, but to do it in a larger scale with raised beds had not crossed my mind before. Perhaps something for you to look into. You basically put a tarp on bottom of the raised bed (and up around the edges a bit, fill the bottom with some gravel or similar medium (the coco cups might make a nice sparse water containing layer that can carry soil). Then soil on top of this. If you have something resembling mulch or hay to put on top, that would slow evaporation down too. Only problem would be during rain season, but I'm thinking you could either cover them during that time a bit, or have some escape valve sort of construction.

*Edit* Keyhole gardening looked like an interesting idea too.
