Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Deb, something like a used 500D might be okay for you too. I doubt they're that expensive anymore. It's the lenses that really set you back.

I know the body of my Canon back in the day that I bought it was 150 and the lenses were 200.... so if the body today is 500 I cant afford the rest.

No I am dreaming for the day I can get the equivalent of a TX in a DSLR. My TX had no bells and whistles you couldnt even buy and automatic winder for it. Or automatic focus or automaic aperature....

You just pointed looked adjusted the aperature to suit the shot and focused.... I could take pictures by candle light with 1000 film without a flash. Matter of fact I never used a flash... had one never took it with me. I preferred natural light.

So when I get a DSLR I want to be able to turn most of the bells and whistles off.

But I do need a good shutter speed.... I cant handle the point and click and the delay to year the shutter go off.... a head shot becomes a butt shot on a fast moving dog.

back on CocoBeach it's a beautiful Sunday.

both Bernie and Dodong are working today so we will do a few projects in the maintenance arena.

last night was lots of fun with the Christmas lights and festivities in kabankalan

The bigger girl Small is beautiful, wish she'd turn the baby around so we could see her too

small is a very pretty girl. I tried to take pics of her but oh so camera shy. lol. I will post pics of Lillian and the kids next round. I only had 15 minutes with high speed internet

I have actually taken hundreds of good pictures covering all aspects of the goings on here. it's just a matter of internet access.

Yesterday we had to go to kabankalan to pick up something dropped off at the house there so we took the kids to see the lights. they went with Mrs oz to the lights while I posted like crazy.

After 23 days, we finally have 4/12 piglett buff Orpington, 9/48 white bresse and 0/12 Ameraucana. We had 100% on the local
eggs set on the same day and hatched on day 20.

there are 77 new chicks in the brooder and 170 eggs incubating.

the chicken side of things is doing well.

As an experiment, I set free 6 guineas a few months back that have been pinioned. this week we added 5 non-pinioned Guineas to the fray. Man can they fly!! lol

the good news is they hang out in front of the coop. it will be interesting to see how far they wonder.

I raised Guineas for many years. In my experience they never strayed more than 150 metres from their home tree.
