we try

two weeks ago Mrs Oz took eggs back to the house in Bacolod. She got in rather late and put the tray next to the other eggs. Fast forward 8 hours and at breakfast my wife sees eggs are gone. Not eaten but gone.

My father in Law swiped them for his incbator

Haha, finders keepers?
yup

Mrs Oz just got back from the farm and airport run

we shipped another 50 birds today.

Pigs 1 and 6 are due this week.

Our new panday (carpenter) starts tomorrow to make bamboo lattice to replace green mesh being destroyed by the sun.

After that, if sales continue, we will have to relocate the feed from the brooder room and add another brooder.

Sunday on CocoBeach

The Super Panday started today. He is splitting bamboo down to 1" strips in order to make lattice. I have to order 10lbs of 1.5" nails.

After vaccinating the entire flock on Monday for Newcastle disease, the next week will have a pig focus.

The 3rd sow was moved into the farrowing pen. Pig 5 is due on the 19th. I like to bring them in 3 weeks before as they still are agile enough. I also use Valbazen de-wormer on arrival to ensure they are worm free when its time to produce milk. Its a great treatment but should not be given in the early part of pregnancy. Once isolated in farrowing pen, its easy to put it in some feed.

On Wednesday March 4, Dodong will take the male offspring of Pig 1 from her last farrowing to the saleyards. He should weigh a prime 90kg and fetch 100p/kg. Thats about9000p or $210. It will cost $12 to charter a pig sidecar to get him there. His sister will get some PG600 in four weeks and then bred on her second cycle. She will be 125kg by the time she is impregnated with an AI catheter and Duroc genetics.

Pig 6 is a Spotted local mix we are crossing with Duroc due Saturday, March 7
Pig 1 is a Landrace that we are crossing with Large White due Sunday March 8
Pig 5 is a Spotted local mix we are crossing with Pietrains due Thursday March 19

Yesterday we sold the runt of our last batch for $65 at 17kg at the farm gate. I was happy to send him off to a new home at a decent price.

The four remaining piglets are all over 23kg and doing really well on the charts. I am still planning to just keep 2 and sell the remainding pair.

We moved our hatch day to Fridays to facilitate shipping. It will be a godsend this week as we have such a busy weekend.

Chabi the goat is out of quarantine and showing his mean streak with the does. He is allowed supervised visitation each morning only. His behavior towards humans has improved immensly but not yet with the does.

I will post a few pics from Friday/Sat soon.
