I understand about not wanting duck's and all of the mess that goes with even little ones in a brooder. Our duck pond is in need of a good cleaning also, time for the sump pump to get working.
10 days will go by fast if your not counting them down by the min. Give them a hug for me when you can!!

We raised some Pekins in a brooder once. There was poop everywhere.

The 36 eggs I got from @mickmeek are in the bator but will be swaped out with muscovy eggs under a broodysoon.

I am in search of Pekin eggs at the moment.

If I plan on eating it, it's usually Mr.Roo or Meanie, or Pain-in-the-youknow. Meanie was a DELIOUS fat hen who was a terror to younger birds. She wasn't laying anymore at a year old because she was so fat

unfortunately it was the only one.

then the mother bit it.

then it started foaming at the mouth.

its 4am and i am waiting to hear it died.

I am scaling back pig operations by selling all underperformers.

with pig 5 I should blame the insemination rather than the pig. She had no mummifications or still borns but I dont want to go through another breeding cycle to find out. The 1 gilt from lig 1 is almost old enough to breed and there are 4 gilts from pigs 2/3 that are performing like rock stars. I am hoping we get better luck from them. Still pregnant are pig 4 due the 1st week of may and pigs 2 & 3 due the second week of may.
