I had the same problem, so I went and read Ben's thread, don't know if you've read that one or not, but it's a fun read and similar to this one (set in Australia), then I got caught up on that one, so now I'm reading the one about the random silkie feathered americanas that just cropped up out of nowhere... It's a neat read on the genetics in the colors and feathers. Plus it is interesting to see what inbreeding does to the hatchability of the eggs (there were only 2 to start, they bred those 2 one time, the roo attacked the hen and they had to be separated, so then the son was bred back to his mom and sisters to get a few more of them to start breeding.)

X2 and when I finished those threads I read the one by the sitcom girls about her crazy neighbour, that is a good read :)

glad to see to are keeping yourselves amused while waiting for the next drama here. lol

welcomed me misfit

@phage the drop in viable to hatched is pretty normal on my shipped eggs. there is so much more in play than regular eggs. the naked necks are brown.

just a few days to go before flying back to lala land

Hey OZ they found Yellow Fever mosquitoes in Aneheim.. Or for a better description Vector masquitos... capable of passing on diseases like, Dengue, Chikungunya, and Yellow fever.

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/county-659619-fever-mosquitoes.html

said to be brought in by "lucky" bamboo... Bamboo stood up in a vase of water instead of soil... For those who don't know what lucky bamboo is. Bamboo will grow without soil... all it needs is water and light.

The article is kind of reassuring though.

I heard it on the news this afternoon.

Well you will just have to take some more next time :) .

The birds are laying like crazy now - getting about 8 legbar eggs a day. I have 5 dozen from this week I need to set.

Were any of the legbars the JR ones? The males and females look very different to the regular ones - the girls are less distinct and could easily be mistaken for a regular boy. Do you have pics?

It's one heck of a roller coaster, isn't it? But it's only the beginning, there are many adventures yet to have taken place.
It is, when i started it i thought for sure that by the time i got to the end it would be all over but still going strong i see.

Heya, VDay HAL buddy!

Thank you Oz, we have naked neck X easter eggers and we get all black melanistic ones from them too, we also have naked neck X sebright that we get melanistic from.

I am just back from a brutal trip to the airport. we hit 4 funerals that are a walking speed procession from church to graveyard. summertime they can be 5o cars and 500 pedestrians long. two today were like that. it was impossible to get around them. add the 20 plus police check points due to the APEC meeting in Bacolod and it was pandemonium.

Toto shipped the birds under my supervision and did great though with the added security additions at the airport I had to put my foot down when they wanted to xray the chickens.
