Well I just found this thread and was reading through the first 20 pages and had to come to the end to see if you're still there and still writing. I don't think I could make it through all the pages to catch up. Did you get your adoption through yet and are you homesteading there now?

I wish I had the time. If I could somehow filter out all post but his it would minimize it.

BTW, I'm moving to the Waverly area soon. I see your in Middle TN. What town are you around. I'm retiring from the Navy and going home. I plan on bringing my flock. I have to get there early and build a new coop and pen.

It really is. If I can just get the compost started again it should cook quite quickly and make that lovely black stuff too. It's loaded with poop, kitchen scraps and straw.

Get you some fresh horse poop to get the heat going. If you are careful and don't put it (horse poop) up against the tree itself but pile it up over the root system, you can get fruit trees that don't usually thrive in colder climates to live and bloom and bear fruit. Like peaches.

Penny, the chicken and bunny poop is rich enough in nitrogen. The problem was the -15F temps we had, it isn't easy to keep a compost going when it's that cold.

Yep -15˚F pretty much freezes it all solid.

Has anyone here seen a chicken with pink earlobes? One of my Olive Egger roos has pink earlobes. Candy heart pink. He is a brown silver duckwing. He has just finished his first molt and that is when his earlobes turned pink. He is about 9 or 10 months.

Pale red is the closest I've come to pink, and that's usually during a molt or while broody.
