Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

The long term goal for ChabiChou the Saanen is to offer him at stud for around $4 per service plus feed for the doe. We will set him up in the front corner well away from our flock and have a biosecurity zone between him and us. Hopefully he will have a happy life with lots of ladies,

If that does not pan out - goat curry (stewed for days)

Now you guys are beginning to understand what I put up with. LOL! I call him Mr. Monk sometimes.

A car needs a box full of bits - not just the stuff that hides in a secret compartment. We carry a universal radiator hose, a fan belt, wiper blades, coolant as well as oil. There is a couple of emergency lights, a triangle, A 4 way lug nut wrench, a basic mechanics tool set, a jump start battery with a mini compressor and a couple of cans of fix a flat, This stuff is in plain view in one of those corrugated plastic US Mail carrier boxes,

The roof racks were put on the car to carry stuff, They are not the decorative type lol

We also have to name the young boar. The orange colored Duroc cross is Trumpy. I am tempted to call the fair skinned with white hair Bernie but we had a Bernie already on the farm.

Typically they get some sort of macho name. His father is Maximus. Maybe we will stick to the Roman theme.

Processed 8 cockerels on Saturday, made my first fried chicken today and looking for a good adobo recipe for Wednesday. I have not made it before but it sounds good.

I will post one when I get home. You will need a light soy sauce, garlic, a little hot chili, coconut milk and vinegar. We use a Filipino palm vinegar but white wine vinegar will do

Roman names :
Caecilius
Salvius
Quintus
Julius
Titus
Augustus
Barbillus
Lucius
Marcius
Modestus

And my personal favourite - Cogidubnus

Male Roman/Latin names usually end in a 'us' because latin nouns in the masculine nominative form end in a 'us'. (There are a few exceptions like Strythio)

I have most of the ingredients, except for the white wine vinegar. I will probably do a blend of white wine and vinegar. I will probably need to slow cook it because the meat was a bit tough when I fried it last night. Not too bad. I am sure the acids in the vinegar will help think I will marinade over night. Looking forward to the recipe. Thanks
