Now there's a word I've never encountered before. "Hoosegow"? Got any etymology for that one? It's sort of a funny word.

Cool, that Spanish to English conversion is actually quite similar to a Finn using English words with a very heavy Finnish pronunciation. Or a bit like an American in France, "Mercy bowcow" - "Silver plate".

There are alot of Americanized Spanish words floating around. in and around San Diego Lots of words are flat out spanish but we Bastardize the pronounciation. It gets confusing sometimes. especially with street names We automatically prounounce street names that start with a J with an H sound. Unfortunately its not appropriate when the word is actually Native American.

Like for instance my town is Jacumba. Looks like a Spanish word to be pronounced Hacumba. But actually its a Native American word pronounced differently

My mom and dad mentioned something about Yosemite to their cab driver in SF, his response was "Yeah, that's what you tourists call it" =P Another example of words that aren't pronounced as you'd expect.

LOL rude rude rude cab driver. But my Grandpa used to pronounce it Yosemite on purpose.... to get a reaction.

I am a little concerned about Oz. He wouldn't just desert us would he?? Maybe we/someone/BYC did something that annoyed him - I hope so, and that he is OK.

It looks like someone logged on as him 6 days ago, though his last post was Feb 14th.

I sent him a PM just before that but got no response so thinking maybe it was not him that logged on maybe??

He was meant to collect some donations for kids in the Phils that I had taken up to my DD's apartment in LA before he moved to Washington, but he did not arrange with her to pick it up. That was the last contact I had from him.

I had a friend who went AWOL from BYC for a whole summer once, and I bothered everyone trying to find him. Thought something terrible must have happened to him.

When I finally did find him he said that he had no idea that he had been missed or that anyone was trying to contact him. Hope that is the same for Oz and he is just super super busy and nothing bad has happened to anyone.

I have him as a friend on Facebook but havent looked there in months. I poked around and it seems he's hotel hopping and doing a bit of touring of the area. The last entry was March 19. so hes alive I suspect buisy
