My chickens seem to roost all over the coop but since it is going to get cold I want them to roost in the building in the coop. Does anyone have an idea to get them to start roosting in the same place every night? I am very busy and cannot always be home to pen them up in the evening otherwise I would just put them in for the night. I would like to start heating the coop at night to keep them warm. Thanks

I had this same problem when I introduced some new chickens into the ol flock and had added onto the chicken coop. I was worried because some were roosting on things they shouldn't but after a couple of weeks they have all started to roost on the right one and all together. I don't know about getting them in a building in a coop but I hope this helps.

When it gets good and cold they'll jam themselves in cheek by jowl.

You could encorage this by making the places where you don't want them to roost unattractive.
