(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to having yard and game birds. I got my first round of birds April 14th of this year.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 12 chickens right now with 4 more on the way next month.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 4 Isa Browns, 2 Silkie Bantams, 2 Golden laced wyandottes, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Brahmas
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The comic relief!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Just starting to get into homesteading. Love to read. Anything outdoors.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My fiance and I have been friends since I was 6. Had our marriages, divorces, and our children are grown and have their own families. He works a state job and I am a Supervisor with USPS. I was injured at work in January and have been waiting to go back, so we decided that now was a good time to add to our little homestead. We also have 6 Guineas including a Lavender, 13 Ringneck pheasants (all hens), and waiting the arrival of 10 Chukkars, 10 Bobwhites, 2 Rhode Is. Red hens, 2 Leghorn hens, and 2 boyfriends for the Ringneck ladies..... Good thing we have acreage!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Before going into this adventure, I wanted to gather any information that I could about what I was getting into since I would be the primary pet parent. So when I discovered the BYC website, I was in my glory...anything I wanted to know about was here. This has been my main resource for my questions and knowledge. Thank you so much for being here!
