Hi,
I know there are some other Gettysburg chicken farmers on the forum.................. I saw some posts a couple of weeks ago. We are ready to buy 8 pullets -- want ones ready to start laying eggs. Any idea where we can purchase them locally. I know we can head towards Marietta or Lancaster but would prefer to keep the business in the county if possible. Thanks for any help.

Welcome!

I believe Whitmore Farms is not that far away from Gettysburg, PA.

We are planning on going there for the CW Nationals next year for the 150th battle. We are Civl War reenactors. Can't wait!

Hi,
I looked up Whitmore ---- in Frederick MD. It's an easy enough drive, but their website indicates they sell only 1-day old chicks. I've emailed them and asked, just to be sure.
Yes the 150th is going to be a HUGE re-enactment for sure. Fortunately we live outside of town and don't HAVE to go in town often during the summer months.
Thanks for the info.

Try Moyers chicks, the do sell pullets, my grandfather has been getting chicks fro there since 1967.
They are great people to work with, and they do deliver.....

Fellow Gettysburgian!!! I grew up in gburg, now close to hburg!!! I ordered my chicks from Hoffman hatchery in Gratz, pa. About 1 hr from here, but they ship them very quickly and it is a small mom/pop shop. They have a large variety too! Good luck!!
