Ghost the Silkie,, he or she?

Amy's Animals :

I have 2 silkies a neighbor with about 25 and that one you got there looks exactly like the hens, so chances are it is. Also, only our hens have turqoise earlobes, the roosters all have mulberry ones. Silkie roosters also are larger, have long thin feather "threads" sticking out of the back of their heads and out of their tails, and of course, they have spurs spurs. Hens are smaller and have more a cottonball tail and no sticky outy feathers. I hope this helps, good luck. If this is a young chicken, just wait and in time it will become obvious what sex it is.

Silkies, regardless of sex, should have blue earlobes. My rooster has blue earlobes along with my hens. Those "long thing feather threads" would be streamers. And, yes, males do have them, but it depends on their age. Roosters can also have cotton ball tails as that is more desirable to have than the hard sickle feathers.

By its posture and how tall it looks to be, I'd guess boy. I would think it'd have a "rounder" crest if it was a pullet. I think I see streamers starting to come in also, but it could be just the picture.

Beautiful bird no matter what the gender!
