But see, this ISN'T life...this is an internet forum. People tend to act differently and throw their normal manners out the door on internet forums. Without proper moderation things can get really ugly really fast. I have seen a few tries at unmoderated forums. It got frightening....even so far as death threats. I assume the individual moderators are allowed to do as they see fit. It appears the one who deleted yours saw fit to delete it. This site strives to remain family friendly. I know it takes a LOT of work on the part of the mods to do that. No matter what they do I am certain they do it at least trying to keep this site as clean and wholesome as they can.

true its seems deletion tends to lead to more hostility than a lockdown. with that comes the questioning of moderators and that is a real no-no that leads to more deletion. its a neverending cycle. glad i'm not a moderator, beefy

Glad I'm not either......just trying to figure out the whole locking vs deletion .

If writing in a forum on the internet isn't life......then is this some sort of dream ? I come on this forum with the same ideals and attitude that I portray every minute of my life . I am this outspoken and blunt on the screen and off . I guess the internet may be a playground for alter egos for some.....just not me . I can be only who I make myself to be , and that doesn't include making myself out to be someone else . I am very glad , however that this forum is so family friendly.......kids could do so much worse . I am still just a human being however.......and I can't be erased .

Not sure if this is how it works, I am just guessing, but I though that all the locked threads got deleted eventually?

I never finished reading though the thread that was moved to staff for revision, but at this point in time, I don't think it will be revised and put back on the board. The content that it developed into was no longer a discussion but rather excessive ranting from multiple faces.

Often threads are edited and brought back, sometimes they are moved and not brought back... then sometimes they are locked and let run down the page...and sometimes those are later removed. We don't have the time to follow around every thread and after receiving reports on one, especially multiple reports from more than one user, as in the case of the thread being spoken of, we move it. If we move it back is totally on the discretion of staff and largely on how much time we have and are willing to spend cleaning things up.

From the few bits I read, I deemed that who ever moved it moved it largly because of:

3. No Flaming (verbally attacking people or groups of people - e.g. a profession, an organization, a company.)

7. No Fighting. Taking a personal conflict to the forum is unacceptable. "I'm right, you're wrong" threads and posts will be edited or deleted.

And in this case, this thread will be closed due to questioning moderation.

We must to agree to disagree on many points and this is a private message board. To discuss debatable topics, there are many other forums in which to do so, with sections completely left unmoderated so that members can dual it out how ever they please. I've been to sites where there's no crying to anyone over internet bashing by others and things are much more hostile. Of course that is not how we are run here, as we aim to have all sections be a family friendly as possible.

And when we delete a thread, it's far from never happening, rather, it makes all the staff aware that it did happen. Why some are locked and some deleted, well we are all different mods and we respond according to what we each feel is right at the time when the reports roll in. We don't read every thread, and I'd say 80% of the things we take action in are reported by members who happen across them.

Reason you probably haven't seen one disappear is because someone reported it early on and it was removed before you ever saw it.
