Giant chest

My Plymouth Rock hen just turned 1 and her chest is so large it almost touches the ground. She has to turn sideways to eat. Is this normal?

Can you examine her crop early in the morning to check if it is empty? If it is round and hard she may have an impacted crop. If it is full and squishy it may be a sour crop or slow to empty. Sometimes hens will just simply overeat and have a very full crop, or it can become pendulous if she has had repeated episodes of impacted crop. Here is a link to read:
