Hi i just hatched 2 eggs from regular coturnix quails and one of them had a very bad time trying to get out.
She started by pipping on the narrow end and zipping diagonally. She got half way before she couldnt do it anymore so i had to assist her.
Only after she was born i realized she was MASSIVE. About 2x the size of the other chick. I suspect she was so big that she couldnt move into hatching position properly. She was so packed into that tiny egg that her feet were completely squashed and curled.
Her feet have been mended now and shes acting happily and healthily.
I just wanted to share this and am curious if this is normal? Or anyone else have something like this? Will she have problems later because of her size?
Im just hugely impressed by her bigness lol.
