I have an olive egger (RRR and an Ameracauna mix) that just started to lay and her eggs are gigantic. I have a full RRR and hers are large but not competed to Olives. Should I be concerned? Olive is on the left Barley (RRR) on the right.

Hi :frow I have Marens which lay eggs about that size (assuming the RIR egg is average size) and have had no real problems with my hens, no prolapse, etc.
You have a nice X-large egg layer, be happy. :wee

My almost 2 yr old RIRs lay bigger eggs almost daily than my barred rock of the same age. My 2 youngest hens a RIR and a Delaware white are 7 mos roughly. They've been laying smaller eggs pretty regularly because of their age?. Today however we got a HUGE egg...like a goose!
I believe the Delaware's are supposed to lay extra large to jumbo right?? Probably a double yoker too!!

I have all RIRs, and e of them lays very large eggs, like that
Yours lay ones like that all the time??? Omg. .
My reds are fantastic. layers for sure mostly laying large to extra but their eggs are normally more brown or very dark brown and very small in the case of the youngest RIR. I mean this thing is the size of a goose egg!
Since this doesn't usually happen and the color is so light can I assume this is a fluke and a case of whoever did it just ran out of "ink"?? It was so light I thought my Delaware might have laid it.
