Gil's World - A sick Gil ?

I was concerned about that wire too. I found 4' x 100' of hwc on Amazon for $149 delivered and it was $25 cheaper than Home Depot or TSC today. We are going to make our run even more secure in the next couple of months.

Is your boyfriend able to frame out a run maybe using 2 x 4's or something like a builder would do to frame in rooms in a house? Then get hwc and put it over that and put some on the ground around it so nothing can dig under. Of course, it wouldn't be movable but it would be secure!

We are going to build some kind of coop soon but we are getting the aviary because I have a parrot and a cockatiel that would also benefit from outdoor time. This way if I let the ducks out to roam the yard, the birds can fly outside. I will order hwc off amazon, thank you!! Would I be better off connecting the coop to the run or would it be safer to keep them separate and just lock the ducks up at night? Or put the coop in the run and still lock the ducks up at night? I'll probably lock them up either way but should the coop be inside the run, outside and connect to the run or it's own separate structure?

could be either! I KNOW you will lock the ducks up at night! I don't know why you couldn't put the birds in with the ducks during the day and everyone would be safe.
I have watched the parrot get a little too curious with Gil so I could try it in a big space but I don't know how friendly or comfortable they really are with each other.

my blue/fawn white/chocolate is so dang pretty! Her name is Blu. Her daddy is a chocolate runner and mom is fawn/white. She's LOUD too which make me think her mom might be Dilly my loud mouth fawn/white.

@DuckyDonna They're GORGEOUS! Too cute!

I am reallllllllly debating right now. The plan is either A.) I order a blue and fawn/white runner off of Metzer Farm or B.) I get a group from TSC and only keep 2 females once their gender is obvious. I was aiming for plan A but everyones telling me plan B sounds better because it's a lot cheaper. I know it won't be easy to rehome drakes though. I do have a friend though (the one I got Gil from) that would probably take any ducks I needed to rehome. I think I am going to ask her first and if she say's she would, then plan B would be a viable option. If I order them, I will do so after I order the aviary and build a coop. If I get them from TSC, well I have to go there Wednesday to get Gil food sooooo, that's soon!! The outdoor aviary will be here next week and If I start on building the coop right away, they'll be ducklings so I should have enough time.

So, do I go with duckling plan A or B? A is the 2 runners from Metzer and B is a small group from TSC (as long as my friend can take the majority of the group after I see which 2 hens would be best for my needs) ?

ALSO!! I need suggestions on food for Gil. Can anyone recommend a good duck layer food or even a brand to stay away from? I will be at TSC.

Thanks everyone!!! <3
(I made birthday hats for Gil today-Her 1st Birthday is SATURDAY!)
