Our goslings hatched about three days ago. On day two, one of the Ganders appeared to be trying to kill them. He injured one such that it is now terribly gimp legged. It can get around somewhat on one leg while the other leg just hangs. It is eating and drinking fine. I am worried that it should be put down but thought I might post here for any thoughts about possible treatment ideas. Thoughts?

Either the leg is broken or it’s out of the socket. A vet can get it back in the socket if that is the issue, it’s possibly to do it yourself, but their bones are so tiny and delicate a vet probably should be the one to do it.

Thanks for the input. I took "Hobs" to an avain Vet last Saturday. He/she has a broken leg so they put a splint on it. So far doing well. Sure hope this works and his/her leg heals enough to have a good life.

Glad to hear an update on the little guy/girl! Goslings grow so fast so there’s a good chance it will heal quickly.
