Ginger Almost Became a Scooby Snack! Yikes!

Leash law?? Heck no, not here. Almost everyone allows their dogs to roam, except us. But that wouldn't have helped here anyway since their dog was on their property. In this case, even if Ginger had been maimed or killed, it wouldn't have been the neighbor's fault. She traveled quite a distance to get where she was. First she had to travel maybe a hundred feet along the fence to get to where it stopped, go around, down maybe a 15 ft embankment, across the dirt road, and down another embankment to their open yard. I wasn't kidding when I told you she was an explorer. She and Lorelei once did that same thing and walked several hundred feet around that road, following our fence. When they couldn't get through the driveway gate, they continued around the property till they got to the gate on the far side of our land away from their coop. That's where I saw them, after I'd put all the other girls in the pen near suppertime. All we have left to do is about 20 ft of fencing to finish the perimeter of the main part of the property. Just 20 measly feet. And she goes right for the opening.

Holy cow!

I know you just wanted to pass out once you figured out what was happening. I'm glad to hear that all ended well though.

The kid from nextdoor who rescued Ginger from his dog rode over on the ATV to see how she was. He also asked to buy a dozen eggs. I thought that was really super-nice. We took some plastic green garden fencing and closed in the corner of the property till we can buy some livestock fencing to complete the perimeter. It won't keep much out for long but it should keep Ginger from galavanting around the neighborhood. While here, the neighbor kid told us he saw a very large fox run across the road in front of his house. I know foxes inhabit these woods but we usually dont see them.

glad she is ok. you better watch out for the DOG and the FOX!!!!

Kudos for the neighbour kid...
Hope Ginger got a huge lecture about straying...
The farthest Slifer, Obelisk and Jerry went was diagonallyacross the street to Mr. Joe's to see what he was growing in HIS garden.

I dont think she can get out now. She's too big to slip under anywhere and she's a non-flyer. She just likes to roam, silly girl. She'd better stay-she lays the largest eggs of anyone in my flock. My neighbors are nice people. They are the ones with the ATVs, guns, jeeps, loud music on occasion, but would be there in a heartbeat if I needed them, I'm sure. The kid used to work in a feedstore and works somewhere they do trail rides now so he likes animals. I tried to give him the dozen eggs for rescuing my girl, but he wouldnt hear of it.
