We have a Red Star that is 2 years old she was our very first chick. She weighs about 8 lbs and is all puffed up and waddling/walking very slowly,mostly sitting with eyes closed and breathing heavy. She has dark green diarhea. I have seen her drink but not eat in the last couple days. She has been puffed up for about 4 months now. We thought she was getting better, but took this turn for the worse this week. None of our other chickens are showing any ill signs and she has had no trauma other than our head chicken got killed about the same time we noticed Peep puffing up. Also, we have had heavy snows and a soggy winter in Washington state. They have a nice coop with a 10x12 foot run. In the past we have put a light on for the girls, but we did not this winter. We would like to treat it ourselves and nurse her back to health if possible. Their coop has straw bedding, we mix grit with their Layena pellets and let them out to roam on the farm every afternoon since the weather has been nice in the past three weeks. During the cold and wet winter, they mostly stayed in their run and coop. We often give them vegetable scraps, yogurt, and rice. What should we do now?? I'm so worried about her.
