girl on the nest that hasn't laid an egg in months!!!

Wow! I did not expect to see this girl on the nest since she hasn't laid in so long. I thought maybe she was done. I even nicknamed her "dumpling" because my husband had plans to eat her since she wasn't laying! lol! She has been there for a few hours now, so will let you know if anything happens!

I've got a Welsummer that sits on the nest almost daily, sings the egg song, is perfectly healthy etc, but I have not seen an egg from her in months. It's maddening.

I hope your hen is more productive.

I have two old girls, they have been finished laying for at least 18 months.
When we put up the new nest boxes for the new girls, both old girls get in nearly every day, kind of vibrate and then jump out and sing the egg song. I figure it's good training for the new girls. And good memories are one of the blessings of age, right?
