Girl or Boy? Older Wyandotte

Hmmm.. well I guess we just wait and see still. I already had one bird that was a cockerel that the person took back and gave us a new pullet. It was a bit if a headache so we wont exchange again even though they were promised to be pullets (and we paid extra).

If this one turns out to be a roo after all it will be given away to a local farm we help with.

If you all need better photos let me know what would be best and I can take some more. I can get my kids to hold the bird once they get home from school if that helps too.

This bird doesnt like to be held much! The others including our bigger Cochin dont mind at all and will just hang out in our arms. This one wants free!

Normally I would agree, but this bird just screams cockerel to me for some reason. In the first picture, those top tail feathers are black and shiny and look like they could become sickles. And behind the wings the feathers look shiny and narrow, like the beginnings of saddle feathers. But it could just be an unusual pullet. I can see this one going either way, but I think it is a very late maturing cockerel for now. And hope I'm wrong, because the original poster probably wants a pullet!
Looked closer at the image and I think you might be right, I'm starting to see some new saddle feathers coming in that look awfully pointy.. The tail i'm not really seeing much as a lot of my hens have that green but those saddle feathers do make me iffy about this one.

@ASD Dad Can you tell us what age this bird is?

I have to say, it looks like a cockerel to me. I have 9 GLW's and that one looks just like some of my cockerels. Note the band of black at the base of the neck - the pullets do not have that. The tail feathers also appear to be developing like a male.

Any chance he would get along with the Cochin? They've been raised together months now. The Cochin like to go after this one a lot though and leaves all the other birds alone. He is not mean like violent or plucking feathers out, he just chases after this one and squawks at this one. Hate to give up another bird at this point.
