Both of those are pullets. BRs do have yellow legs once they mature, but the pullets will have a much larger dark "wash" on the legs than the cockerels.

Barred rock females also tend to have more of a dark wash on their feet than males I have heard.

What about the different tail on the darker one though?

Maybe it's just the lighting, but I thought Barred rocks had yellow legs. Can't see the color of the lighter bird's legs too well, but the darker one has some greenish/slate legs going on! Lovely birds, regardless.

ETA: How old are these birds?

They are 5 weeks old

Ah, that explains the leg color. I was definitely confused. Learn something new every day!

Both girls. The tails are just still growing in. Male feathering doesn't show up til around 3-4 months anyway.

At 5 weeks both look female...tho the darker one is a bit redder and that may pop out in comb and wattles the next couple weeks.
