Girl or Boy?

I have a little chick that had a broken leg and I spent weeks healing her. She is almost recovered now but I think she may be a he. Can anyone help me determine if this little one is a girl? It’s the lighter colored chick. Also if anyone can tell me what the breed of these two are, I would be most appreciative! Thank you

The black is a cuckoo maran looks like a pullet from the coloring. I’m not too sure on the other chicks breed but it looks like a young cockerel.

I agree that the dark one looks like a Cuckoo Marans

The darkness of the feathers and dark wash down the front of the legs are good signs that your chick is a girl.

Here is my pullet at about 3 weeks old for comparison:

She became much darker in color, more like the speckling on your chick. Here she is at 12 weeks:
