So my four girls do not go up in the house part of the coop at night. They sleep underneath on the ground cuddled together. Does this mean that they will lay there when it is time to lay? I want them to lay in the house in the nesting box not on the ground underneath because it will be very difficult to get the eggs there. What do you think will happen?

How old are they?? We had to place our is the coop for about a week and then they started going in by themselves. We do notice however that when it is really warm out sometimes they will sleep outside under the coop.

Mine did this after something scared them in the coop. For 3 nights I would pick them up in the evening and physically put them on the roost. The fourth night they.were back in the coop.

Coincidentally(?) I also cleaned the.coop that day ;-)

They have gone up in at some point because after I cleaned it the shaving are all scattered everywhere and they weren't like that before hand. So maybe its just to hot right now for them to sleep in there. IDK
