Several of my hens have all of a sudden decided they're going to ignore being called into the coop ( 1 RIR, 5BPRs). It's irritating me and the rooster!
He tries to bring them to the door, but then they all decide to go every which way.
Granted the persimmons are juicy and falling off the trees, but they get their fill early.
Today I had to pick each up and place them in the coop...

What does your coop look like? Size? Many times when they refuse to go in it's because it's uncomfortable for them. Hot and stuffy or even an infestation of mites could be going on.

Lock em in for a day or two.

Coop's an open front (15x18) with run enclosed on the front (15x 25).
The run is partially shaded with trees and the coop has high and lower roosts with nest boxes on one side.
They have a hurricane fan in ceiling to aid air flow, big window in back by roosts.
Gets cleaned weekly, dusted and raked with new bedding monthly.
Haven't had any mites since early spring...think they're just being fiesty.
They do have new neighbors (three rabbit) by the run, but they love visiting with them.
Think maybe it's because they didn't get out to forage earlier this week because I was gone a lot.
I don't like having them wander if I'm not home.

I bet it’s the lack of free ranging. My birds go crazy when I skip a day.
