Why do you think pale combs are a bad thing? It generally means the birds are NOT cockerels. How old are they?

They are 9 weeks old tomorrow. I also have this little blind chick (I've posted her story up in the blind chicken thread) who has no comb at all as far as I can tell. I'm stumped as to what sex it is!
