My momma guinea has already hatched out her first nest of keets which I kidnapped from her for safe keeping. I let her keep 5 keets to raise but they only lasted a few weeks. My other momma guinea also had a good hatch and she still has her 5 keets i let her have. Now my momma has started a new nest that i just found, she laid two eggs today, now she is up to six eggs so far. My question is will she set this clutch or is she just laying out of boredom. If she doesnt set i will have to incubate. Anybody have a hen sit two nest in one season???

They don't lay out of boredom. They lay because their bodies have to. So long as it's laying season and they aren't sitting a clutch their bodies may get the signal to lay. Doesn't mean they have to sit them and many eggs go without incubation every year. Some may never sit on eggs despite laying every season.

well my guinea hen is working on her 4th nest this year. she has only set on the third one but they didn't get hatched. shes laid over 180 eggs this year!!

Good idea to mark a couple and leave them in the nest as nest eggs. Collect the fresh, unmarked ones and store them in a cool place in your house. Then, if she sets, you can put her eggs back under her, or incubate them, maybe even under a chicken. Safest way I can think of........Pop

I just found another nest with 21 eggs in it. crazy birds just laying and not setting again. Guess i gotta get an incubator.
