Give gallon bucket blues

I have to check to see if the horizontal water nipples are working every day. I am finding that they fail to work at all on a regular basis. Sooo, it crossed my mind that if the lid is closed tight that there may be a problem with creating a partial vacuum without drilling a couple holes to allow air into the bucket.
I opened the lid and there were no obvious problems with debris that could clog the nipples. Anyway I ordered the RentACoop water cups today. I heard they work well.

Yes in order for water to come out you will need to let air in some how. The cups will not work also if no air is allowed in.
