I have 8 chicks currently about 4 days old. They have been on a multi flock chick starter from blue seal, I have started small flats of grass, can I put the whole flat in the brooder and let them go for it? Will this be bad for their crop? Do I have to give chick grit first? Some have pasty butt. I've continued to clean twice a day. First time ever having chickens. Thanks a bunch!

I'm brand new to this but everything I've read says give grit when you start treats and not to start treats until they're two weeks old. Hope that helps!

Thanks shellLea, I planted the flats with out fertilizer, just peat moss. They're em to love it, it's been 24 hrs and they are doing great. I also ground up egg shells in a coffee grinder real fine and sprinkled it on as if its chick grit. Hopefully they will continue to be fine
