This is the only outdoor brooder I have besides the dog crate inside another structure option. It’s enclosed on the back side but open in the front. It’s also occupied during the day. I could potentially put a hinged door on it, which I’ve been meaning to do. This part of the yard isn’t accessible to the rest of the flock.

Dude, I have five too many. By the time I went to cancel my order for Silver Appleyards, I couldn’t and had already gotten the pekins from my local farm. I probably need to rehome one drake and at least four girls. Where are you? I’m in Framingham.

The only one I know of is a woman in Sharon who sells SA, but they are unsexed. That’s where I got my drakes. Not intentionally.

Well, Nicki Minaj decided today was a good day to get off the nest and not go back, of course. So, I augmented the brooder and moved Lady Gaga and her collection in there. She was seriously angry at me. Went all turkey and growling and then kicked all the eggs out of the nest. I put the nest in a larger box so it’s mostly covered. She still won’t sit back down but hasn’t kicked the eggs out again, so I’m counting it as a win. If she doesn’t sit tomorrow, I’ll move on to Lisa Loeb who is still at it in her nest box in the main coop.
