Giving a chicken a bath?

I think its interesting that the OEG hasnt succumbed to the horrors of petro poisoning - and that no one noticed it.

This bird chose that spot to nest, and so got all covered in oil. It hasnt keeled over, it hasn't started growing a foot from it's neck.

Whats up with that?

As it turns out she isn't covered in oil, her tail has been rubbing against the exhaust and it's just carbon residue. She hadn't been like that for long there was one day she didn't come out when I was feeding and the next, she was filthy. Since she was just going to crawl back in there to her nest I trimmed her tail when I cleaned her up... I'm sure the other hens will quit laughing at her as soon as she moults

Wow.. he gets along great for no toes.

My Cochin has weird toes... tiny toes, hard to tell with all those feathers.

I have bathed my cochins, silkies and polish crested rooster. I used baby shampoo and all of them have come out just fine. Sometimes those chickens get really dirty and they need bathing. Not sure if they like it or not but if they don't maybe they will stay cleaner. Yeah right!!!
Just make sure when you are cleaning your chicken do not get any soap in it's eyes.
