Hi all,
I hatched 7/8 eggs on Easter, and 4 of the chicks have grown up to be gorgeous roosters.
Unfortunately, they are somewhat vocal and my mom is begging me to get rid of them. I've only had them cry in the early morning (not constantly) but it is stressful constantly having to worry about them crowing (also, hen-roo ratio is pretty bad).
I live in NorCal (Bay Area), and I am looking for someone who lives close enough to come pick up the boy(s). I can also drop them off on the weekends! ("close enough" meaning within around 1-2 hrs drive)
I am OK with you making food out of my birds, since two of them might not make the best pets.
All are silkie mixes (I believe) and have not shown any aggressive tendencies to me (I hand raised them since they hatched and have never been attacked or approached threateningly). They have fought each other in the past, but for the most part, my black silkie is the instigator.
I'll add more photos once I get home.
1. Standard: Orange-grey EE x Silkie mix:
-Blue egg gene
-Very food oriented (will trample others to get some food, but will follow you like a puppy)
-Very smart, compared to my other chickens. He usually figures out how to eat a new food first.
-He pinches a lot when he eats out of your hand, so be careful
-Doesn't like being picked up
2. Bantam: Black Silkie mix (looks just like a silkie with small crest)
-Most aggressive (not to me, but to other chickens, so this guy might make a fine dinner)
-He's picked on the hens before (randomly pecking them meanly. So rude!)
3. Bantam: Black EE x Silkie: straight-feathered with shiny iridescent black feathers and a floofy crest
-Blue egg gene?
-Very sweet, but it might be because he's sort of blind with his crest
-One of my favorite guys because he acts a little stupid and is very handsome, but he crows the most
4. Bantam: White Showgirl (Naked Neck x Silkie) [I might be keeping this guy if I can, but let me know if you are interested]
-My favorite little guy. He is so sweet to me and I am hoping that I can keep him.
-He looks very striking
-Probably the tamest out of all of them, as I've bathed and diapered him and helped him through pasty butt
-Does not get along with black silkie
