Giving chickens wormer

Hi there - I read somewhere that you should give your chickens wormer in their water if they will be living outside. Any input on this one ?
It's best, if possible to get a fecal float to see if your flock has worms to begin with.
Since you are in Canada, products may not be available OTC and have to be sourced through a vet anyway. Your vet can i.d. the type of worms you have and recommend the correct anthelmintic.

That said - Levamisole or Flubenvet (Flubendazole) may be available for you to buy without a script. These would be used for treatment of roundworms.
Of course you would want to research whether or not there is a withdrawal period.

Other products to look for would be Fenbendazole (Safeguard) and Valbazen (Albendazole) both will treat most worms in poultry.
Praziquantel would be needed to treat tapeworms.

Hope that helps.
