Giving hope to everyone

This posting is to give hope to everyone who has an older bird that has not starting laying yet.
Drum roll! My 10 month old Astrolorp has finally laid an egg!

Guess she was waiting for the daffodils to bloom. Do not give up hope.

Congratulations! Maybe there is something in the air. My light Brahma hen just laid an egg for the first time today too. And we don't even have any daffodils yet!

Hope springs eternal - as spring approaches.

My crew are getting into full swing with the help of supplemental light. One of my old girls, a Wyandotte who is approaching her eighth birthday, has laid two perfect eggs this week.

Spring hints to anything being possible. Like, dare we hope, the end of winter soon.
