My hen has been trying to get her chick to be on her own, and she has been pecking the chick and I picked the chick up and the mom drew blood by ripping out a feather. What should I do with this problem.

Welcome to BYC!

X2 Time to separate momma from chick. She has done her duty and it is time for this little one to be on her own. As long as she is at least 6 weeks old, she be on her own now with no added heat.

I would not put this chick in with your adult flock, but keep her within the flock in a cage or enclosure for a few months till she is old enough to be with the bigger birds.

Enjoy your flock and welcome to ours!

The chick is keeping her distance, but she attempts to get under her mom and her mom pecks her, causing crying and screeching. The chick has no siblings, so what am I going to do with a lonely chick?

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! How old is the chick? Can you keep it in a cage in the coop so it can see the other chickens but they can't peck at it? You might also find it a friend about its age.
