Hey,

I'm new to BYC. Found it to be a great Forum, so joined here now we got our lovely new chickens

We're in Salisbury, England.

Anyhoo, 3 of our flock are approx 14-15 weeks, but I had to make a call on the GLW and buy it at 8 weeks as couldn't find them anywhere at a better age... The seller said they were nearly sure it was a pullet, but if they're wrong, they'll exchange it.

I'm so hoping this woun't be the case, as the kids are taken with it as it is the tamest and very cheeky : ) Also, introducing another young pullet to the other 3 later would probably be a nightmare.. The others are Barnevelder, Barred Rock & SLW all being model chickizens so far

Anyhoo, I've been reading the threads regarding sexing GLWs, but seem to find no conclusions at this age, so I'll open it up to some guesses from you guys please?

Here she is! Please Guess Heartily

I think it's a pullet. By 10 weeks, my wyandotte roos had massive waddles and a large comb. I don't see any thin, pointy saddle feathers coming in either.

Thanks

Great News!

She's been named 'Lady Minx Houdini' after escaping twice from the surround the first day of introductions. She decided to get away from the immediately (introduced the same day!) dominant SLW sharpish and developed limited flight capabilities in a hurry! They only free range together now, as the others pick on her if they're cooped up together. They all snooze together peacefully at night

The 'others':

Barn: 'Lady Wanda Peckingbottom'
Barred R: 'Lady Mildred Privetbottom'
SLW: 'Lady Frieda Filipendula'

Proper little Ladies they are

Still no eggs. May be waiting for spring now with the days drawing ever shorter..

We have two SLW pullets and one GLW pullet and yours is definitely a pullet. She looks a good bit older than 10 weeks though (Edit... saw the other posts, but your ten week pic looks more like a 14 -16 week old pullet). She may be about 4 weeks or so older than you think, but 100% pullet. We LOVE our Wyandottes, all three are sweet birds. Our GL "Skittle" she is the quietest girl when you pick her up, she doesn't make a sound. So cute.

All pretty girls you have there.
