Western Slope of Colorful Colorado
Hello to all you members and thank you for the hours upon hours of research/articles/education/chuckles I have indulged in on this site for the past 14 weeks.
I "inherited" as a sort of "rescue" 72 chicks of various breeds and ages 14 weeks ago. I scrambled to get up a makeshift coop & pen. Now we are working our plans for permanent quarters. All my chicks were to be heritage and rare breeds, marans from Bev"s & Wade, assortments from Greenfire/ one Earth. I still don't know what I have or how old!!!!
I have identified a few, one little Sultan hen named Poodle started laying an egg a day for 10 days now. Talk about character building. I am counting on some of you to help me identify a few, lots of roosters! I love my birds, only lost one ( PeeWee) the first month to trampling. All are happy, healthy, rangers on 2+ acres on the Western slope of Colorado. Get ready for some puzzlers and thank you again for so many fantastic articles & information. Very well done and enjoyable site, very well managed. I'm sure the fowl fairies blessed you and others are happy for it!
First test...my avatar, Sinbad...the most beautiful, docile, shy but curious cockerel. Aprox 16-20 weeks. Black wattles & comb, eyes, ears, legs...double spurred, tassel, long & very sleek, no crowing...ever. Could I be so lucky for a Cemani mix?
Don't laugh, my group include 7 Rumpies, at least two are roos.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined us!
