I am a new member, live in Prescott, AZ, and originally got 15 baby chicks for my son. He was moving, so in addition to being a grandma of six kids, I also kept the chicks in my bathroom, garage, and then Papa built a coop at their house. Every time I went to the feed store, I came back with chicks! We have had chickens before and I adore them, so now want a coop of my own at our house. Having just built one coop, my DH isn't going to build another, so I've got my eye on a Lifetime shed at Costco. We are both retired veterinarians, so we have lots of animal experience. Thanks in advance for the tips I know I will get from this site! :) Nana

Hello from Oregon!

Prescott, eh? I used to snowbird down to Stanton every winter...shopped in Prescott the whole time...nice town! I see you have your eye on a Lifetime shed....WOW! That is exactly what I did! I couldn't be happier with it. Mine is 5' x 8'. I'm keeping that left-side door permanently closed and only using the right side for the door. My little flock of 4 Black Australorps are happy as clams! Best of luck to you both and do keep us updated as to your progress!!

I ended up getting the Lifetime shed from Costco yesterday and will work on it this fall since it will go where I have a garden right now. I got the 6 and 1/2 by 8 ft model with the "barn doors" at one end, and skylights running the full length of the roof at the peak. I've seen lots of good posts on adding windows and more ventilation. Meanwhile, I'm at my son's house a lot, just to be with the chickens! Thanks for your replies...what a wonderful site this is! Dear iwiw60- love your chicken print you use for your profile! Where is Stanton from Prescott? I was born here and never heard of it!

Great news on getting your Lifetime shed...woot!! Stanton is the old ghost town outside of Wickenburg where "Rich Hill" is located...we used to snowbird down there every winter at Stanton where the Gold Prospectors Assoc. of America's site is....do you recognize where that is...can't really give you better directions...eek! Have a wonderful day today and hug your little fuzzy-butts as much as you can!!
