Hello all!

Glad to have found this place. My next door neighbors are moving and are not taking their four 1-year-old chickens so we're grabbing them in 2 weeks, coop and all!

The town just changed it's ordinances a month or so ago so that I can have up to 12 chickens. Starting off with the 4 and looking to slowly expand up to 8, maybe up to the 12.

Learning lots before we get them. Already planned out a larger enclosure so they can have more access to the yard than they do with the existing set up. Looking forward to learning a lot more.

I have visited that area! I've been looking at several sites to get ready for our adoptees. I think we've got most of the info to start out, but I know there's lots to learn to a healthy, productive flock. Our biggest concern is to get them in the yard and comfortable, especially since we have a dog (terrier-mix). He'll be fine after a few days since he gets over his excitement of new things fairly quickly, and he's already been introduced to them through the fence. We're looking at building a new coop that can handle up to 12 chickens in the fall and looking at how to introduce new chickens to the flock. I think we'll be buying already grown hens from a local farmer for the first year. I don't think I want to deal with the learning curve in my first year.

Awesome that you can have 12 chickens! Like drumstick diva said, I'm sure you'll have no problem accumulating them!
