Thanks, Katy. You know, I'm really partial to the little EE babies, especially the blue ones, but all of them are precious. There's nothing like sitting and watching a good mama with her babies. Broody-raised babies seem so much smarter than the brooder babies. Guess that's because they get instruction from their mama from Day One.
The other day it was 112 degrees and one of my peeps snagged a Japanese Beetle that was almost bigger than the peep! It ran around in that awful heat...peeping and hopping up and down, like it had found the keys to the kingdom! It was so hot, no one cared!!! Felt bad for the peep. Normally that would have been a real good game of chicken football!
Those babies could live on the bug protein alone they've had over the last two days. They got several crickets, a centipede and a big fat worm just this morning. That Glenda is really making them self-sufficient.
