Well we did the deed today. It was great! Went off without a hitch. My BBB is now resting in the cooler packed in ice. Thank you to all on this thread that helped me - it was quite an adventure from peepers to ice chest!

I did my first ever processing today. Yay, me. He was a lovely BBB tom that probably weighs 20+ lbs dressed out.

It was easier, and harder, than I thought it would be. Easier because well, let's face it, this is not brain surgery. But it was harder to do the initial cut than I thought it would be. His foot slipped out of the tie I had rigged up so I had to hold him up till he bled out. It was harder to figure out how to get the crop out than it looks in the videos, and OMG the pinfeathers. I think the more I pluked the more he grew.

But it is done, and he is sitting in the fridge covered in ice.

One foot of mine slipped out, too, but we got it back up on the hook.
