GLW legs don't work

I have a GLW who suddenly went paralized while free ranging. She was always my healthiest chicken and only just turned 2. Her comb is bright red and she is very alert. I don't have a vet around and I have been giving her all my attention for a month. She is flapping her wings when held and can use her voice when upset, but does not have any use at all of her legs. The one leg trembles a lot when I hold her and it swings free. I love my baby and can't see her like this anymore. Am I being selfish keeping her alive or should I do the humane thing and have her put to sleep. Can someone help me? Please.

It sounds suspiciously like neuro toxin poisoning. Do you happen to have any machinery sitting around the area the chickens free range that leak fluids? Or have you sprayed insecticide in the area within the past month?

Grit that chickens eat for their gizzard can become coated with these petroleum distillates and even a very small amount is highly toxic. I have a log splitter that leaks hydraulic fluid onto the ground, and I discovered too late that my chickens were eating the contaminated grit under it. I had to euthanize two hens who had gone lame. It also killed a baby chick.

To have it come on suddenly, indicates this is likely the cause. And yes, the kindest thing is to euthanize her.
