GMO Feeds

But it is easier to get rid of 2 acres of weeds with round up than a shovel!

Very true but there are safer ways that are just as effective. And don't kill the bees. Just not as cheap…..

This may be so, however real organic farmers that I know do not routinely use pesticides at all. That is the point of real organic, you do nothing unless absolutely necessary. Best to find a local company or farmer & not depend on USDA which corrupted the organic label.

Always buy local when you can I 100% agree!

Aslong as you trust that local farmer….XD

To do nothing unless you have to can lead to big problems in the long run. I look at it like this, If you don't feed and care for the soil it wont feed and care for you. Meaning if you don't use some type of fertilizer to feed the soil and treat for pests to care for the soil and plaints with in time you won't get the food to feed and care for yourself.

True…. Why can't we just go back to being hunter/gatherers and "be wild people" as my cousin would say when he was little not have to worry about any of this crap….

I meant doing nothing on the pesticide route. Of course they build the soil & that is the key & the big difference over many conventional farmers. You can't build the soil & make plants strong by pouring on synthetic fertilizer & then depleting it each year. Just is not going to happen. The same with the soy/corn routine that goes on around here. Monoculture never works.

Oh Cindy, you are using the same worn out arguments against commercial ag that others have used. You can definitely improve soil health and fertility with the use synthetic fertilizers, but it has to be part of a plan, a plan that most farmers use.

There are a few farmers out there that mine soil for the nutrients, fortunately they are the minority.
