Hello...

I just bought a digi thermo and humidity gauge to use but when I compared it to the non-digital humidity gauge that they sell at Petco in the reptile's section, they are very different. The two are 20% apart.

The mercury version of the thermo and the digital thermo has the exact temperate night or day. However, for example, the digital hum. would read 50% while the spring/coiled (non-digi) version reads 70%. Since the difference between the two is so high, the avg. wouldn't be right anyhow...so I am better off relying on which one now?

* The digital has been on for 24 hours so the system should be pretty accurate in the reading now. *

Thanks!

I went ahead and bought the wet bulb thermometer and I also have the round spring coil temp & humidity gauges from petsmart. Cost all of $6 and they read the same as the wet bulb. I took my flukers digital ones out they kept giving me different reading.

From my experience, analog thermometers are more accurate unless you shell out the big bucks for a certified or really nice digital one that contains quality components. Too many digitial pieces of "junk" are being made with high tolerance parts so the error propagates though the device.
